Educational gifts for the English Hub
We are pleased to report a handover of educational goodies to the English Hub at Ukhanyo Primary School on Wednesday 18 April.
Masicorp has a valuable partnership with cycling organisations in Cape Town: The Bicycling Empowerment Network (Benbikes), Qubheka, Pedal Power, and the City of Cape Town Cycle Tour. Generous donations of bicycles and cycling kits have taken place since last year when this partnership was formed and there is now a thriving cycling club at Ukhanyo as part of the Masicorp Sports Development initiative and plans are afoot to start a similar cycle club at the High School in the coming months. Recently, students from Masi High School manned a successful water point outside Masiphumelele township for the Argus Cycle Tour, bringing many spectators from Masi itself out to support the passing cyclists. There was also a team of riders participating in the tour from Songezo Jim’s cycling academy who are based at Masicorp’s Chasmay Campus.
David Bellairs of the City of Cape Town Cycle Tour and Tim Mosdell of Benbikes came to Ukhanyo Primary School English Hub on Wednesday 18 April to hand over kits and goody bags to the excited children. These were surplus to the kits handed out to all those taking part in the Junior Argus Cycle Tour at this year’s event.
The English Hub was abuzz with excitement when David and Tim distributed colouring books and crayon packs, as well as sun-shades, frisbees, yoyos, cycling comics and some practice soccer balls. Sello Matloporo was on hand to receive the packs on behalf of the Ukhanyo Primary School.
