In February 2014 Masicorp completed the renovation of the Home of Love pre-school in Masiphumelele and handed it back to the community on a sunny summer morning. The project was only possible thanks to the incredible fund raising efforts of the Friends of the African Child (FACE) team from the UK.

We were delighted to welcome the FACE team back to the Home of Love last week for an update on progress and learning at the pre-school.

Since their last visit, with guidance from Masicorp, the pre-school has attained formal DSD [Department of Social Development] registration. The Home of Love now receives a state subsidy for each child and its sustainable future is assured.

Hard to know where to begin and choose the right words to describe such an amazing return to the Masicorp  experience….a real one off. It was everything and more for all of us…particularly Ron and Chris…we bigged you lot up big time to Ron and Chris and none of you failed to impress us enormously. 

The township has improved since we were last there not only in terms of better brick built properties but also some sense of the recognition that learning and a sense of community is also key to a better way of life.

Special love goes to Home of Love. Everyone there, particularly Indiana and Priscilla have a place in our hearts. All we did was have fun raising money to support their work of making the world a better place for their pupils. They are at the coal face everyday and we have nothing but the utmost respect for their commitment to the little ones and the community.

We look forward to the day when one of ‘our’seedlings grows into a huge oak and goes to university!
