BOOT FAIR BONANZA
A real boot fair cash bonanza was reaped for FACE by Helen and Bob Steele when they parted with a host of items that had become redundant at home.
At the sale in Measham, Leicestershire, the couple notched up a marvellous £228. Helen’s unwanted clothes were the best sellers, but the top price was £20 for her grandad’s brass opium pipe. Other higher priced sales were a pair of black metal candle sconces donated by their friend Pam which made £8.50 and £7 for an old camera.
“It was a lot of fun and we were glad to get rid of so many things that otherwise would just clutter up our garage. Most things went for a £1, but people were normally happy not to barter because it was all for charity and that helped boost our takings,” said Helen.
The rest of the FACE members are planning to try and emulate Helen and Bob’s success when they attend a boot fair in Medway, Kent, on September 1 and try to offload their ‘junk’.
Great stuff Helen and Bob. Looking forward to meeting with you next year!
