Cyclists invited to join in celebrating 20 years of making a difference
Next year, in 2019, we at Masicorp will be celebrating our 20th birthday. From humble beginnings in 1999 when Masicorp was started by a just a tiny group of selfless and dedicated volunteers, we are now changing the lives of over 8000 people each year through our various education programmes.
During March 2019, not only will Masicorp be celebrating the occasion of our 20th birthday, but the community will also be hosting visitors from across the world who are taking part in the ever popular Cape Town Cycle Tour.
This much loved cycle race was born in 1978 – today there are 35 000 cyclists taking part, all passing by Masiphumelele along the route. There have been amazing developments in cycling recently in the Masi community, with the establishment of a cycling club at Ukhanyo Primary School, and more bicycles donated to the Songezo Jim Cycling Academy by various generous funders. We have also previously been fortunate to have had the support of brothers Gary & Geoff, who two years in a row raised R20 000 for Masicorp through the race.
Next year, in celebration of our 20th birthday, we are offering local or international cyclists who are already entered into the Cape Town Cycle Tour in 2019 the opportunity to share their race weekend with Masicorp, visiting our various programmes and seeing how the support from our friends over the last 20 years is making a real difference to the lives of this community in need.
Are you travelling to South Africa to take part in the Cape Town Cycle Tour in 2019? Would you like to contribute towards education in Masiphumelele – and help us reach another 20 years?
