Rugby Success for Ukhanyo School
Thanks to the MCC Masi 750 club children at Ukhanyo Primary School can now be seen playing rugby during PE classes and also in after school tournaments. Ukhanyo School’s rugby teams (under 8, 9, 11, and 13) recently competed at a local tournament in Sun Valley.
This is the second time that the teams have competed under Ukhanyo colours and they just blossomed. The results were not important – although two of the sides won their games. Project leader, Vince van der Bijl explained, “It was seeing the boys smiling, tackling, passing the ball more than most teams I have seen, encouraging each other, scrumming, having fun and playing with gusto and joy”.
The learners were carefree but worked hard to compete with their more experienced opponents. The coaches were supporting, helping, smiling and occasionally grimacing(!) every move on the field – they have done a wonderful job in balancing the learning of skills with ensuring that the kids love the sport.
This is a team effort from everyone from Nceba, Teddy, Michael all the coaches and staff, Masicorp, donors and the MCC Masi 750 Sports Club.
