For many years, our partnership with Book Dash has made this possible for the children of Masiphumelele. Together, we’ve placed thousands of storybooks into the eager hands of little learners—many of whom are holding a book of their very own for the very first time.

This Literacy Month, we are reminded of the magic that happens when children are given the gift of stories. Recently, we captured a beautiful moment: a Grade R learner flipping confidently through his Book Dash book. Without hesitation, he skipped the introduction and went straight to where the story begins.

It may seem like a small thing—but as Book Dash shared in response to the video:

“The little guy knows to skip all the introductory pages until he gets to where the story starts – this points to a familiarity with books that only comes from regular exposure to books and reading, and excellent literacy practices, which is exactly what the partnership between Book Dash and Masicorp has achieved.”
