Community Support

Our commitment to the Masiphumelele community goes far beyond education. We strive to be a trusted friend and source of support, offering practical assistance to those in need. Whether it’s providing sanitary products, school stationery, or subsidized uniforms, we respond to the challenges faced by families with compassion and care. These initiatives, offered on a discretionary basis, ensure that community members have access to essential resources or support when required.

School Uniforms

Masicorp’s uniform project offers donated or subsidised primary school tracksuits to parents from Masiphumelele. This programme addresses the issue of children missing school or wearing ill-fitting uniforms due to financial constraints.

Uniforms are sewn at The Sewing Café, by members of the Masiphumelele community who have been trained in sewing skills.

Emergency Relief

This discretionary fund supports vulnerable individuals and organisations during times of need, such as COVID-19, floods, fires, or personal crises. This fund has helped us to be “loadshedding-ready” and continue supporting the community despite electricity disruptions.

Dignity Project

One of our newest project supports teenage girls at primary and high school with health information and donations of feminine hygiene products so they can continue to attend school during their monthly cycle. Health practitioners from local organisations and clinics conducted health checks and shared information on topics such as menstruation, HIV and contraceptive use.
