Subject: Ukhanyo rugby
It is with great pride and pleasure that I would like to relay the results of Saturdays fixtures to you. This Saturday saw your students take on Bishops C teams at the Noordhoek sports fields. It must be pointed out that Bishops are a very strong, all boys rugby school who field at least 5 teams per age group each week. The Ukhanyo boys had no local support other than Goodsport coaches and were faced with a large travelling Bishops contingent. Despite this they played and tackled their hearts out and won the travelling crowd over with their enthusiasm and commitment. The final results saw the under9’s draw the under 11’s win by and amazing 27-0 and the under 13’s lose narrowly.
It would be wonderful if you could recognise what is a considerable achievement during assembly this week by calling the captains up. I know this simple act will inspire even better performances and increased participation in the future. It is also worth mentioning that both the coaches Ostrich and India are giving their time for free.
